The coast along Laguna Beach is a great place to take photographs of the ocean, coast, vegetation, etc because it is pretty uncrowded. Especially during the week.

You can pull in to park from the 133 on the way to Laguna Beach. Parking is a few bucks at a machine that takes ATM and credit cards.
Laguna Beach is a cool place to go surfing because the beaches are less crowded and gets some good waves. The city is beautiful to explore as well.
The reason why Laguna Beach gets less visitors is because of the traffic congestion to get in from the 133. But if you go during the week after commuter hours, you should arrive easily.
Intelligentsia in Venice Beach is a pretty cool place to go grab coffee and read a book, get on the internet, or meetup with friends. The patio is spacious.
Shot this video while the art walk in Downtown Los Angeles. The artists were painting in their studio when we went to check this place out.
Definitely worth coming to the art walk when you are in the area. Oh and a lot of galleries give out free drinks.
